My name is Carolyn and I have been writing poetry since forever it seems. Most of my verses are from real life experiences but some are inspired by others and their lives. I collected them all and placed them in a series called "Will You", inspired by one of my more delighted in poems.
Poetry helps me to make since of all the senselessness around me. I see poetry as a ministry to the soul. It lets you hear God's voice in the voice of another's struggle, delight, opposition or joy. It can free you for a moment to be in the "moment" God's presence.
Born in Charlotte NC in what is call the 'Boujee" ghetto, Carolyn was poor but I didn't know it, grandma made sure she was unaware of it by the things I was provided; love, disciple and wit to make practically nothing into something wonderful. Though what she did was virtually impossible on her salary, Carolyn's upbringing was nothing short of a miracle. So she has become accustomed to the supernatural happening all around her. These are the origins of her poetic expressions, the divne interventions of a supernatural God. And this she muses and thus she writes.
Carolyn Booker has been writing poetry since 2007 and is presently compiling her sixth set of poems for the series. She is a licensed minister and has a degree in real life experiences, being a survivor of domestic violence. She has worked and advocated for victims of family violence, sexual assault and is currently studying to become a victim advocate for those trapped in the horrendous world of human trafficking with an emphasis on the sex trafficked. She lives in Sumter, SC, has one son and enjoys springtime walks around the block, visiting Cancun on Expedia videos and making vegan cupcakes for her Africa trip fundraisers.
